Please join the Tennessee State Library and Archives for two conference presentations at the annual Tennessee Council for Social Studies Conference. These sessions will introduce educators to the great primary sources available at TSLA and demonstrate how they may access those materials digitally.

"Teaching the War of 1812: Road to New Orleans"
Please join the Tennessee State Library & Archives and Teaching with Primary Sources - MTSU for a teacher workshop on Tennessee and the War of 1812 held in conjunction with the Tennessee in the War of 1812 Bicentennial Commission's symposium. Participants will learn about primary sources available at the Library of Congress website and at the Tennessee State Library & Archives that will help them teach the War of 1812 standards featured in the new Tennessee social studies curriculum. Participants will receive a $50 payment for mileage and parking expenses.
When? Friday, March 21, 2014, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.

TSLA Summer Teacher Institute
"The Forgotten Conflict: Teaching the War of 1812 in Tennessee"
Please join the Tennessee State Library & Archives for a teacher institute on the War of 1812. Over the course of two days, participants will work with original primary sources available at the Tennessee State Library & Archives related to the War of 1812, participate in living history activities, tour the grounds of the Tennessee State Capitol, explore the creation of the Star-Spangled Banner, and more that will help them teach the War of 1812 in their classrooms. Participants will receive a $50 payment for mileage and parking expenses, lodging, breakfast and lunch each day.
When? Wednesday, June 11 & Thursday, June 12, 2014.

Where? TSLA Auditorium, Nashville. (Moderate walking in downtown Nashville is involved.)
