The General Assembly created the Committee on Postsecondary Educational Institutions through the enactment of Tennessee Code Annotated § 49-7-207. Pursuant to this statute, the Committee exercises such powers and undertakes such obligations as are delegated to it by the Tennessee Higher Education Commission.
The Committee regularly schedules four meetings a year. At each of these meetings, the Committee considers new institutions and new programs for recommendation to the Tennessee Higher Education Commission. Below is a current list of application deadlines and quarterly meeting dates. Additionally, the Committee annually considers recommendations for reauthorization of existing institutions at the April meeting and from time-to-time hears discussions on or addresses other items, such as rulemaking proceedings, on-going litigation, and legislative issues.
All meetings will be held at 404 James Robertson Parkway, Nashville, Tennessee in the 18th floor boardroom at 10:00 a.m. central standard time. An agenda for each meeting will be posted to this webpage as soon as available. Training for new institutions is provided immediately following each meeting. If you are interested in attending training and you are not representing a new institution you should contact Rosie Padgett at firstname.lastname@example.org at least one week prior to the meeting date.

The Complete College Tennessee Act of 2010 included a provision for an outcomes-based funding formula model. THEC, in conjunction with UT, TBR and state government representatives, developed the model which was first utilized for the 2011-12 budget cycle. The Formula Review Committee (FRC) will review the model and recommend changes to the calculations and design of the formula model. The funding formula provides incentives to institutions for completion and workforce preparation that reinforce the policy objectives of the Master Plan.
