Recognition of schools with high poverty that demonstrate outstanding student achievement results.

III. Action Items (First Reading)

A. Health Science Teacher Licensure Clarification
First reading of clarification of guidelines regarding degree and employment requirements for health science teachers.

B. Tennessee Standards for Family School Partnerships
First reading of parental involvement standards designed to facilitate effective school-community relations.

C. Standards for Child Care Centers and School Age Child Care Program Rule Update
First reading of requirements applicable to transportation services provided by non-school, community-based organizations.

IV. Action Items (Final Reading)

A. Praxis Exam Passing Score, Business, Policy
Final reading of revision of passing score based on new scale range.

B. Praxis Exam Passing Score, World Languages, Policy
Final reading of revision of passing score based on new scale range.

C. High School Transition Policy
Final reading to clarify that AP Biology may, for graduation purposes, substitute for Biology I.

D. Pupil Transportation Rule Update
Final reading of rule that aligns pupil transportation rules with Department of Safety rules and deletes outdated language concerning Type C and D transit buses and vans.

E. Identification of the Persistently Lowest Achieving Schools Policy
Final reading of definition of “lowest achieving schools” as required for Race to the Top eligibility.

F. Disability Eligibility Standards and Evaluation Procedures
Final reading of technical amendment to the standards and procedures, replacing the phrase “mental retardation” with “intellectual disability.”

G. Special Education Programs and Services, Rule
Final reading of technical amendment to the rules, replacing the phrase “mental retardation” with “intellectual disability.”

H. Praxis Exam Passing Score, Special Education Exams, Policy
Final reading of changes to the Praxis II specialty exam requirements for special education teacher candidates.

I. Special Education Evaluations, Rule
Final reading of a rule change regarding initial evaluation of students referred for special education services.
