A Tennessee State Trooper died Friday while on duty in the Cookeville District. Trooper Ronnie Hale, 57, was stationed in White County when he suffered a heart attack. Trooper Hale died while being transported to the hospital by emergency medical personnel.
"It is a very sad day for the Tennessee Highway Patrol family. Trooper Hale was a 15 year veteran of the THP and we are grateful for his dedication and service to the state," Colonel Tracy Trott said. "Our prayers go out to his family during this difficult time," Trott said.
Trooper Hale started his career as a state trooper in 1997. The Crossville, Tenn. native was initially assigned to Williamson County. He also served in Cumberland and Van Buren Counties before his assignment to White County. Before joining the Highway Patrol, Hale served on the Crossville Police Department and for the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office. Hale also served in the United States Air Force from 1975-1991. He attended Victor Valley College and Van Buren County High School.
