James (Jim) Hutcherson was promoted to Major over the Field Operations West Bureau in October of 2013. Hutcherson will oversee all road trooper operations in the patrol’s Nashville, Lawrenceburg, Jackson, and Memphis Districts. Prior to his promotion, Hutcherson had served as Captain of the Nashville District since 2011. He began his career with the department as a Communications Dispatcher in 1983 and became a State Trooper in 1986. Hutcherson served in various assignments including road supervisor, homeland security, wrecker services and criminal interdiction. He was also assigned to the department’s Research, Planning and Development Division. Hutcherson served as Administrative Lieutenant in the Nashville District prior to taking the helm as Captain. He is a graduate of the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command.
