File Sales and Use Tax Online

Is this your first time filing sales and use tax online?

Please follow these steps to file your sales and use tax return and make a payment through Revenue's website.

1. Locate your sales and use tax account number(s).

Electronically filing and paying your sales and use tax return will require that you enter your sales and use tax account number(s). If you have previously filed sales and use tax with the Department of Revenue, the account number can be found at the top of your paper return.

If you are unsure whether you have an existing tax account number, please call the Department of Revenue's call center at (615) 253-0600 (Nashville-area and out-of-state) or (800) 342-1003 (statewide toll-free).

2. Obtain a user name and password.

Once you have located your account number(s), the next step is to obtain a username and password. This will allow you to electronically file and pay while protecting the privacy of the information you provide. To obtain your user name and password, go to the TN.gov Account Management website.

3. File your return.

Once you have obtained your user name and password, you are ready to file and make payments through the Sales and Use Tax Online Filing website. Instructions, tips and answers to frequently asked questions about electronic filing are also available on this site.
