Do not apply Family Cap to a child who was
born more than 10 months after the application month, but was conceived prior to the application for
assistance. Obtain a physician’s
statement to prove conception occurred prior to the application date. Do not apply Family Cap to a child born to an AU between periods of
eligibility unless: ·
The child
was conceived during receipt of
assistance; and ·
The case
closed prior to birth; and ·
The child
was born more than 10 months after the previous application month; and ·
The reason
for closure is deemed to be non-cooperation with Departmental policies and
rules. Do not apply Family Cap to the first child born to a minor in an
assistance unit even if the pregnancy occurs after receipt of assistance. Do not apply Family Cap to children, other than newborns, who join the
assistance unit. For example, when a
child who has been residing with another relative rejoins the assistance
unit. The Families First grant payment
will be increased as a result of adding the child. Do not apply Family Cap to a child who is born to an assistance unit
member as a result of incest or a verified rape. |
