David H. Roberson came to the Department of General Services in February 2014 after three years at the American University of Afghanistan, where he served as Vice President for University Relations. He has also served as the chief media relations officer at Duke University and as the senior advancement communications officer at Queens University of Charlotte. From 2006 through 2008 David was in charge of communications on two US-funded reconstruction programs in Baghdad, training Iraqi health care professionals and district and provincial civil servants. Additionally he served 10 years as Director of Communications for The Duke Endowment, the largest private foundation in the Southeastern US.
David began his career as a writer, photographer, and editor at community newspapers in eastern North Carolina. He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and North Carolina State University, earning degrees in English and speech communication.
