Message from the First Lady

Bill and I are excited for the second annual "Tennessee’s Home for the Holidays" Open House event at the Tennessee Residence. Filled with traditions of former Governors and their families and historic antiques and artwork demonstrating the rich history of our state, the Tennessee Residence is truly one of Tennessee’s greatest treasures. Bill and I feel so blessed to live in such a beautiful, historic home and the holiday season is a special time to visit.

Last year we began a special holiday tradition by opening the doors of Tennessee’s home to visitors to enjoy the holiday decorations. We were ecstatic to have nearly 3,500 guests visit the Residence, and we hope to welcome even more visitors this season. Tennessee has a unique music and songwriting legacy, so this year we will feature "Tennessee Music" as the theme for our holiday décor. We are grateful to have featured items on loan from some of Tennessee’s finest museums, including the Country Music Hall of Fame, the Museum of Appalachia, and Stax Museum to help us tell the story of our state’s rich musical heritage.

Bill and I hope that you and your friends and family will join us for this year’s "Tennessee’s Home for the Holidays" Open House event during the first two weeks in December!
