Sycamore Shoals hosts Scary Stories at the Carter Mansion on October 27
Strange things happen around All Hallows Eve, especially at a 200 year-old mansion. Join us on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. ET for tales of woe and terror, the weird and macabre, with a touch of wit thrown in for good measure. Don’t be afraid, the graveyard at the Carter Mansion isn’t haunted…we think!  For more information call 423-543-5808.

Davy Crockett Birthplace hosts Trick or Treat in the Haunted Forest on October 28
Bring the kids to trick or treat through our woods. There will be a lighted trail to lead the way so you don’t get lost. Ghost, ghouls and haints will hand out treats along the trail and give you a little scare. Dress appropriately for cold weather, bring a flashlight and a candy bag. A $1per person donation for the park will be taken at the entrance. Event is 7-8 p.m. ET. For more information contact Dawn.Coleman@tn.gov or 423-257-2167.

Dunbar Cave hosts Sleepy Hollow Bonfire and Night Walk on October 28
Join us from 6-9 p.m. CT for an evening of theater and storytelling. Guided walks led by Ichabod Crane will depart from the visitor's center every 20 minutes. See the Legend of the Headless Horseman come to life at the beautiful outdoor theater. A bonfire, music, hot chocolate and cider will warm the night air. Admission is $5 per person. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Sponsored by the Friends of Dunbar Cave and the Clarksville Children's Theater. Complete details.

T.O. Fuller hosts Fall Festival on October 28
Join us for our Annual Fall Festival at sunset with the following Friday as a rain date. This is a safe community alternative for Trick-or-Treating. Children need only bring a basket and flashlight to find the hidden glow in the dark candy filled eggs scattered throughout the park day-use area. Before the hunt will be a hay ride. Children are taught to roast weenies and self made s’ mores. For more information call 901-543-7581.

Long Hunter hosts 5th Annual Mega-Hike on October 29
Join naturalist and avid hiker Jason Allen and Friends as we attempt to hike all of Long Hunter's trails - 26 miles - in a single day. Whether you hike only a couple of miles with us or all 26 miles, the objective is to have fun, enjoy the fall foliage, and experience the wide variety of habitats Long Hunter has to offer. Please bring water, lunch, snacks, and good hiking shoes. Those who complete all 26 miles will receive a special award and a certificate of merit signed by Park Manager Thurman Mullins. Fall Creek Falls hosts Wild Foods Day on October 29
Field trips identifying edible wild plants and workshops on preparing wild meats and breads are just part of the activities. The real treat comes in enjoying the wild feast. For more information call 423-881-5708.

Join TN Ornithological Society members, Lee and Lois Herndon, other birders and naturalists at Sycamore Shoals at 8 a.m. ET for a morning of birding during the migratory season. For more information call 423-543-5808.

Long Hunter hosts Halloween Hunt (5 mi) on October 29
Join the Frostbite Running Club for the Halloween Hunt 5 mile run, costume contest and famous charcoal-grilled hot dogs. Fall colors in Middle Tennessee should be at their peak, adding to the color and flavor of this race. This fourth race in the Running Tour is considered a flat and fast course with many turns. Bicentennial Capitol Mall hosts Spooks and Spokes Car Show on October 29
Sponsored by the Nashville Corvette Club, this is a free to the public car show which features many vintage and classic automobiles. One of the highlights of this show is the variety of corvettes. The car show takes place all day in the park between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. For more information call 615-741-5800.

Nathan Bedford Forrest hosts Monsters Cafe on October 29
Join us at 7 p.m. CT at the park office for a mile and a half hike of creepy crawly things and ghosts along the trail. The Monster Cafe will be in full swing at Shelter #1 for the kids with all kinds of food, games and treats. For more information call 731-584-6356.

David Crockett hosts Jack-O-Lantern Contest on October 29
Bring your own artistically carved Jack-O-Lantern to the Park Office between 9-3 on Saturday. Have it ready to light and Park Volunteers will judge the pumpkins and then place them on the trail for the Halloween History Trail. Pumpkins can be picked up on Sunday and prizes will be awarded. David Crockett hosts Halloween History Trail on October 29
Visit David Crockett State Park at Halloween and experience a different kind of treat. The 7th annual Halloween History Trail will bring back to life visions of the area’s past. Join us for a look at the people and their slightly spooky stories that are important to our state. The trail, only a short walk, but is down a Jack-O-Lantern lit trail with short stops along the way. Guided tours leave on rotation from the swimming pool area. While you wait there will also be games and food (for a small donation). The first tour departs at 7 p.m. and the final tour will leave no later than 8:15 p.m. CT. Harrison Bay hosts Halloween at the Park on October 29
Join the Friends of Harrison Bay, park and park staff for an evening of Halloween fun. Activities kick off at 5 p.m. ET at the Friends Front Porch and include, trick or treating, pumpkin carving contest, costume contest haunted hay rides and spooky stories by story teller Rick Love. Reelfoot Lake hosts Guided Canoe Trips on October 29 & 30
This Natural Area trip for Reelfoot Lake will take place on Saturday, October 29th at 3 p.m. and Sunday, October 30th at 9 a.m. Will meet at the state park visitor center. The Reelfoot trip will focus on the Fall color and the White Pelican migration as well as the 40th anniversary of natural areas, the upcoming 75th anniversary of Tennessee State Parks and 200th anniversary of the formation of Reelfoot Lake. This canoe trip is on flat water, but some upper body strength is required as the trip will last approximately 3 hours. Participants are encouraged to bring a snack and water to drink. Sunscreen and bug spray are recommended. Deadline for reservations is October 27th, or until full. Canoes, life jackets and paddles will be provided. Visitors are also welcome to bring their own canoes/kayaks. Reservations are required. Sign up for both trips may be made by calling the Reelfoot Lake Visitor Center at 731-253-9652. South Cumberland hosts Buggytop Hike on October 30
The Carter State Natural Area is known for its karst features but it also has an interesting trail that’s a bit different from the rest of our trail system. Meet Ranger Jason at the at 11 a.m. CT at the parking lot for this 4.5 mile difficult hike. For more information calll 931-924-2980.
