Edgar Evins State Park is located on the shores of Center Hill Lake in the steep, hilly Eastern Highland Rim. The 6,000 acre park provides excellent recreational opportunities and accommodations on one of the most beautiful reservoirs in Tennessee.
Wildlife is abundant and includes three different owl species, numerous hawks and wintering bald eagles as well as the rare Cerulean Warbler, a summer resident of the park’s mixed hardwood forests, which include stands of Tulip Poplar, Oak, Hickory, Buckeye and Wild Cherry. An observation tower at the Visitor Center offers a spectacular view of Center Hill Lake and the surrounding hillsides.
Historical SignificanceThe Park was dedicated in 1975 and named for James Edgar Evins, a Dekalb County businessman and mayor of nearby Smithville. As a 2-term state senator, Evins was instrumental in the development of Center Hill Dam and Reservoir. The Galley Restaurant at Edgar Evins Marina.
LodgingThe park features a modern, 6 building lodging complex. Five buildings house 6 one-bedroom suites and one building houses 4 one-bedroom suites. Each suite can accommodate 6 adults and is completely equipped for housekeeping including linens, appliances and cooking and serving utensils. Edgar Evins State Park also offers 60 tent and trailer campsites with water and electrical hookups. These platform-type sites are built around the slopes of Center Hill Lake and are equipped with a table, grill and fire rings.

Interpretative programs for all ages are scheduled during the summer months. Subjects range from local history to flora and fauna. Special programs are also provided upon request.

Events and Programs
AmphitheatreA small fire circle is located adjacent to the campground, which may be used by the public, provided no park programs are scheduled there. It seats approximately 15 people.
