School Improvement

The Office of School Improvement oversees the department’s efforts to improve school-level results under the state’s First to the Top wavier. Office of School Improvement works with priority schools (the bottom 5 percent of schools in terms of overall proficiency), focus schools (the 10 percent of schools with the largest within-school achievement gaps), and three district innovation zones. The Office of School Improvement is charged with ensuring improved student achievement outcomes in these schools and ensuring effective coordination of state and district efforts.
