Using the New TDOE Website

Welcome to our new site. We've created it specifically with you in mind. Our goal was to make information easier to access, so we started from scratch to reorganize, clean up, and condense content to make that happen. We know that a drastic redesign can be jarring, but we hope you ultimately find our site easier to navigate and use. This guide will give you a brief overview of what's new to help make the transition a little easier for you.

How to Navigate

All of the information on our site is organized by topics. To access the drop-down menu, just hover your mouse over the menu item. Each topic is a broad category that includes more specific information. For example, the topic “Instruction” is where you'll find all information about how students are taught in Tennessee, including the state academic standards, graduation requirements, and textbook information. Topics are always available from the top navigation menu.

Once you've selected a topic, you'll notice a second navigation menu on the left of your screen. This is where you'll find all of the specific pages within that topic:

Click through these pages to find the information you are looking for. You can always use the breadcrumbs to get back to where you were.

Lots of Content, Easily Accessible

On some pages, you'll notice headings with a small arrow to the left and a line across the top, like the one below:


When you click headings like this one, more information will appear below it. Skim through these headings, and say goodbye to clicking through page after page to find what you need.

Pages Just for You

If you aren't sure which topic to choose to find what you are looking for, select an option from the top navigation menu that most pertains to who you are: a student or family member, a teacher or administrator, a member of the community, or a district employee or supervisor. We've organized these pages to include links to the information each group is most likely looking for.

Each group has a color, too:

  • Students & Families
  • Educators
  • Community
  • Districts

When possible, we've used these colors throughout the site to help guide readers to the resources relevant to them.

Printer and Mobile Friendly

Need to print a page? No problem. When you print from your browser, you'll get just the content on the page without menus, colors, or weird formatting. Try it out:

Our site is also mobile friendly. If you're reading this on your smart phone, you already know that, but if you need to access our site on the go, everything will be formatted for easy reading and accessibility.
