Area Plans (2011-2014)

The Older Americans Act authorized the establishment of an aging network that includes state agencies on aging, as well as area agencies. The Tennessee Commission on Aging and Disability, in its role as the State Unit on Aging, administers the Older American’s Act thru policy, planning and advocacy activities. Planning is a significant part of the OAA for the State Unit on Aging and for all of the Area Agencies on Aging and Disability (AAADs).

The plan updates for 2014 wrap up a four-year planning cycle for the AAADs. The last four years have seen changes nationally, as well as statewide. The Plan Updates show a glimpse of the activities and strategies used by the AAADs to provide services in the face of a growing aging population and a static budget.
